Give Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving, dear readers. There are so many things to be thankful for! Miriam likes to clap. She agrees that we should be thankful.

Another thing to be thankful for is our car. That is, our new car. About two weeks ago the old 97 Honda Accord we inherited from Spencer and Jenny finally chugged its last chug; the transmission apparently broke into a lot of little pieces. Time to car-search! We ended up finding a 2007 Kia Spectra5 hatchback with only 50k miles, for an incredible price because of a cosmetic dent in the back. We are quite happy with it. It sorta looks like this:

Also, I am so thankful for my family being in town. I just could make it through medical school without them. Just before Halloween, we went out with my little brother to the mall and visited the lego store. It was heaven.

We dressed Miriam up as a pumpkin. Of course.

Our little girl is growing so fast. She likes to play peek-a-boo, read books, wave hello and goodbye, babble at us all the time, point at stuff she wants, stick out her tongue, blow raspberries, clap, play, eat...

And of course, she reached her very first big milestone: ONE YEAR! We celebrated with a lovely birthday with friends and family, Mozart bakery cake, coffee, fun conversations. And she had her first piece of cake :).

We opened presents with her, and Grandma bought her a cuuute coat with a matching beret, which we put on her head, of course. We have been conditioning Miriam to wear hats by putting them on her and then making a big deal out of it: clapping, cheering, etc. So she has come to associate hats with good feelings and consents to leaving it on her head. This was the only way we could teach her to wear hats without ripping them off.

There are so many endless things to be thankful for. My med school buddy had her baby about a month back, and he's a cutie! As my friend put it, if arranged marriages were still the trend right about now is when negotiations would begin...

Well there's been a lot of Miriam in here and not a lot of Andrew and Jenny, so I suppose I should put in a few sentences about us. Andrew has applied for grad school in English, and we're hoping he can start this coming spring semester! Med school continues to roll along for me... bringing lots of challenges and fun times with it. Including singing in an acapella group, the Lymph Notes :). We did Time is Running Out by Muse for our incoming MS1's earlier this year, and I finally found the video to share with you! We start out rough but finish all right :).
